Kath managed over 1,700 hectares of green space including major parks, visitor centres, 53 sites of water, play, narrow boats, buildings, events, golf courses, dog warden service, ranger service, community recreation and country parks and a dispersed work force. She chaired the departmental Environment Group, and was active in the regeneration of many areas of the city. Kath was also a member of the Disability Group and Budget Strategy Group. She also represented the department on the corporate Travellers Panel.

Through Kath’s excellent management and people skills she developed several partnerships within the business and community sectors. She successfully balanced the potentially conflicting role of service delivery, working within the political environment and meeting the diverse needs and aspirations of the local community and visitors to the area. Kath also co-organised a national 3 day conference in Leicester
