Cognito is an established UK provider of managed mobile data services for field workforce management.

The company sells predominantly direct with a strong partner program and fledgling channel in the UK and EMEA territories. It has over 130 established enterprise customers, with 15,000 active subscribers across the GPRS networks of the 4 major UK MNO’s, including a number of prestigious blue chip accounts.

Having joined the company as Product Marketing Manager I was promoted to Marketing Communications Manager in 2004 and in early 2006 was appointed Marketing Manager. Reporting to Commercial Director managing a team of 4, I have responsibility for the full marketing mix, including, events, corporate collateral, PR, advertising, direct marketing (mail and online). The current role includes;

- Budgetary responsibility, c. £350,000.
- Plan and execute corporate material portfolio, including management of EMEA variants.
- Plan and execute direct lead generation campaigns (mail and e-mail), including managing telesales activity, to generate direct sales pipeline.
- Manage CRM system to develop and maintain an effective target database.
- Develop and maintain EMEA website.
- Support to the channel management team for channel partners, VAR network and solution partners.
- Plan and execute event program including industry event attendance and seminar program.
- Managing analyst and PR relations, including managing external agencies, case study program and campaign development.
- Manage advertising schedule in key trade publications.

Achievements
- I was part of the steering committee for implementation of a new CRM system in 2006 and projected the complete overhaul of the target database and development of a new direct lead generation and data cleaning program.
- I have project managed two major refreshes of core sales and marketing collateral, both print and online, first in 2003 when the company re-engineered its service offering from its historic PMR Network to a GPRS technology platform, and most recently last year, with the new website the major showcase of the execution.
- The past two years I have overseen the most successful attendance in several years for the company at the main trade exhibition in the sector. I undertook a fresh approach to the event including new stand design, advance DM activity and enhanced involvement in the overall event program, and a tightly managed event follow-up. I have taken this approach through to all event attendance resulting in improved lead generation performance.
- I commissioned the first multimedia marcoms materials for the company including a customer case study video, interactive demonstration videos and customer presentation videos, all showcased on the website.
- I have project managed the company’s first engagements with the analyst community over the last two years, resulting in an inclusion in a Gartner Magic Quadrant report along with Forrester, Butler, Analysys and Datamonitor research.

Ciscom is an established reseller of Cisco Systems products. During my time at the company it saw 200% growth in turnover to £36m, opened regional and international sales offices and attained Cisco Gold Partner status.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager I had particular responsibility for project management and implementation of marketing campaigns.
- Collateral development, print and online. I undertook the copywriting and liaised with external agencies for design and print.
- Worked on a direct-mail and print advertising campaign through external agencies.

Reporting directly to the managing director, I was responsible for liaising with clients to identify campaign opportunities and project management of campaigns on behalf of clients.
- Planning and executing direct mail and direct fax campaigns in UK and Europe using a mix of in-house and external agencies
- Database cleansing program.
- Planning inbound/outbound telemarketing and telesales campaigns utilizing an established in-house team
- Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of campaign status back to customers

Achievements
- Developing first database cleansing program for the agency, to ensure compliance with Data Protection Act on behalf of clients.
- Executing a direct mail and telemarketing campaign for a US based start-up software vendor to successfully launch into UK market. The campaign generated full attendance levels at the launch event and the initial UK sales.
- I implemented a complete refresh of the company website.
