Principal Management Consultant

• Reporting directly to the Managing Director and empowered to deliver management consultancy solutions to clients in various sectors with a focus on business process modelling, knowledge/information management, competency management and change management
• Approximately 80% direct fee earning and 20% business development
• Comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear, utilities industries and defence sectors, comfortable in all areas associated with technology, manufacturing and design
• Responsible for day to day project management, cost control and profit/loss accounting

• Reporting to the UK Business Director to deliver management consultancy solutions to clients in energy and defence sectors with a focus on knowledge and information management
• Previous success in IT management, content management deployment, integration strategies and business improvement
• Comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear, utilities industries and defence sectors, comfortable in all areas associated with technology, manufacturing and design, Presented knowledge management application case studies at international conferences and for local special interest groups

• Responsible for 36 staff in the IT and Quality Departments with focus on business improvement combining technology and process related activities
• Programme Manager responsible for all internal company projects, examples include:
• Modelled all Company core processes and built integrated management system using ARIS process modelling software from IDS-Scheer
• Used knowledge management best practice within models, replaced the old QA procedure-based approach
• Achieved external accreditation to ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
• Developed project management, knowledge management and business improvement processes and implemented throughout organisation
• Implemented “balance scorecard” performance monitoring processes to help steer Company vision and goals
• Established corporate systems from concept to roll-out such as ERP, remote access, Extranet, calibration database, anti-virus, Black-Ice Defender, VOIP
• Created robust business continuity and disaster recovery systems and processes
• Introduced Help Desk systems and processes, set up SLA’s

• Responsible for 28 staff in the IT Department with full P&L accountability
• Motivated and developed a demoralised IT team to become a core Company support group delivering measurable value
• Rationalised computer networks, introduced standard desktop and Internet access for all (a highly successful implementation where PC usage doubled within 6 months and all staff were using compatible systems and software)
• Project Managed the introduction of the Company’s first Intranet system, which was developed from scratch with a budget of less than £20k and still supports over 1200 staff today
• Project Managed Year 2000 initiative (300+ applications) being the first unit within Marconi to test all of its systems and confirm Y2K compliance via an integrated series of tests in June 1999
• Reduced software costs by 75% by negotiating improved supplier contracts (document management, telecomms systems, voicemail, help desk management software)

• Conceived, scoped and project managed the Company’s first electronic document mgt system
• Market analysis and benchmarking of all major document management systems
• Rationalised all Company processes associated with documentation, drawings and correspondence
• Provided full ROI analysis and managed all stakeholders, including Executive

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, responsible for all strategic planning activities across the Company. Main responsibilities and achievements included:
• Project management of Company BPR initiatives
• Joint venture profitability and market segment analysis
• Company budget and Corporate plan preparation
• Conceived new type of business plan with emphasis on vision, mission, objectives and performance monitoring

Reporting to the Tendering Manager, responsible for managing the production of tenders for fee earning work, main responsibilities and achievements included:
• Development of in-house design estimation packages for design applications
• Management and supervision of bids and other projects to ensure they progress to time and to the allocated budget
• Winner of Company Achiever Award for work associated with Eastern European tendering

Worked within many teams on large multi-disciplinary projects involving complex problems and designs within the UK nuclear power programme, examples include software design for the Sizewell B protection system and control rooms, health physics monitoring design, remote fuel handling

Main duties included reliability and probabilistic safety assessments for complex control systems in the nuclear industry, also experienced in heat transfer and fluid flow with work leading to UK patent for development of mass transfer techniques
