Employment History
(Jul 2004 to Feb 2007)
Contract Developer
CambridgeI worked in a team of three contractors (who worked off-site in their own offices) developing from scratch, ‘ActiveLibrary’, the client-side of a fully-secure (ACL-based) extra-organisation document management / publishing system which fully integrated with Microsoft Office 2000/xp/2003. It was developed using Agile Methodologies and implemented predominantly in C# .NET 1.1 (with third-party UI libraries). My focus was particularly with the WinForms / UI elements (I was also responsible for the client installation.) Typically, the team would gather requirements (both specific and very general) from the customer, design and implement prototype functionality for subsequent review by the customer then revise and implement the full functionality as necessary. The application communicated with a remote server using XML over HTTP/HTTPS, was internationalised into Japanese and had comprehensive, Lucene.NET based-search facilities. It was built on a dedicated build server using Continuous Integration (CC.NET) with NAnt.
(Nov 2006 to Mar 2006)
GUI Plugin Component Developer
CambridgeI worked in an established team of five people developing the retinal scan scoring/grading GUI plugin component of their ‘IP for Reading Centres’ product using C#. We worked to tight deadlines and used MSF Agile / Visual Studio Team System to maintain rigorous control over the development of the system
(Jul 1998 to Jul 2004)
