April 2003 – September 2006
Head of Marketing – Su-do Professional Beauty Ltd. Harrogate

I was appointed by this company to take control of all corporate and product marketing and completely re- brand their corporate and product image.

The Marketing Department at that point was non-existent and a structure had to be implemented.

Working with a small team, the company and its products went from being relatively unknown to a market leader. I was responsible for Market Research, PR, exhibition, web site design and marketing, advertising, direct marketing, POS, packaging, promotional literature and DVD’s. Su-do Professional Beauty is a now a universally known company and trading in approx 20 countries. This position also entailed some overseas travel visiting beauty product suppliers and overseas Su-do distributors.

Product Development

I also took on the responsibility of some product development, namely ‘Vibrance’ a new skin wear range. This involved market research, research and development, testing, packaging (then, of course, marketing). This was an area of business that I had not been involved with before and I found it very exciting and challenging.

June 98 – July 2001
Director - Orbit Design and Marketing Ltd

Orbit Design and Marketing provided a full range of marketing / advertising services to a wide range of companies. As one of the Directors, I was responsible for Account Handling and overseeing many projects from concept to completion. Tendering contracts and new business presentations.
The profitability of each project and the company finances also fell under my remit.

June 97 - June 98
Marketing Services Director – J C Marketing Services Ltd (Jackson Consultancy plc)

My main role was to run the Creative / Marketing Services Division within this international Training Company. The main client base was motor manufacturers such as Volkswagen (UK) Ltd, Alpha Romeo, Fiat Group (UK) Ltd, and Honda.

Prior to my appointment all Marketing Services were outsourced. A Marketing Department had to be implemented from scratch, including equipment and staff.

As well as being Head of Marketing for the company, I was also responsible for procurement and all creative services that were required for client product launches and events.

During this time the new Golf was being launched. I managed the organisation of an eight day training event for 4000 Sales Specialists at Donnington Park. The main exhibition centre was used for 4 individual training sessions and a Racing School was employed at the track for more literal product training! Two corporate videos had to be produced for the event as well as all the promotional literature, product information and newsletters.

Other typical projects for these clients were event management, exhibitions, and producing sales guides and similar literature. I was also responsible for the running of the ‘Cloverleaf Club’ which was a club created for Alpha Romeo, designed to inform, communicate and motivate all the Sales Specialists.

March 97 - Dec 95
Account Manager – Chromagene Ltd

As an Account Manager in this Imaging Laboratory, my responsibilities were to service all clients in North and West Yorkshire. This was a position where I was able to develop my existing skills and gain further experience in the production side of imaging and new technology.

Provided an Art and Design service to both Advertising Agencies and my direct clients. Working on many TTL projects from concept to completion.
