Previous experience includes
· Marketing - for his own businesses and for a number of agricultural, further and higher education colleges/universities including Warwickshire College as Director of Marketing Resources, Hartpury College as Director of Marketing and as a consultant to others including Plumpton, Bedford, Silsoe, Moulton, and Pembrokeshire Colleges; The Universities for Milton Keynes – Open University etc.
· Member of GIS (Government Information Service) Head of Press, Publicity and Marketing at the Contributions Agency
· Horticulture – founder/owner of a nursery growing intensive salads and veg; sold after nine years of successfully serving major supermarkets, commission markets and local outlets
· Non Exec Director / Environmental Industries
o Five years as Trustee, Marketing Chair and later Vice Chair of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust
o Five years as Non Executive Director, of which 4 years was as Company Secretary, for Middlemarch Environmental Ltd where my main interest was in business systems and marketing.
· Lecturing – marketing, management and rural tourism mainly at Cambridge and Hartpury College and at ISARA, the Institut supérieur d’agriculture et agroalimentaire in Lyon, France
· Rural regeneration –
o Successfully obtained government funding for (and directed) a rural initiative, which he subsequently directed - REDI (Rural Enterprise Development Initiative) which worked with farmers and landowners and operated across Warwickshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire;
o Otained ESF funding for (and directed) “Rubicon”, a regeneration/training project focusing on rural SMEs in the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire region which John Prescott praised as being "highly relevant training..(and) ..a good example of partnership working". This led to visits to Portcullis House to discuss rural training needs with a number of MPs.
