I’m currently working as an outside party scheme project manager for Network Rail. The role involves consulting with the outside party, specialist rail consultants and principal rail contractors advising of Network Rail protocols. Negotiate and administer all agreements with outside parties, including local authorities, developers and the Strategic Rail Authority. I ensure the clients follow Network Rail’s structural Approvals in Principal Form A’s. Detailed design Form B’s all aspects of rail safety methodology by using work package plans and Form C’s Temporary works. The role also includes budgetary, costing, estimate and forecasting of charges associated with Network Rails management. This also involves Possession Management and associated fess and Possession compensation charges whilst liaising with colleagues in all rail aspects dependant on the scheme and the outside parties impact within the rail environment. I have currently completed a £4.5m scheme with the Environmental Agency in Lymington Hants.

Write small schedules of work against a schedule of agreed rates. Programme each project with the tenant, building contractor, Network Rail engineers, Owen Williams structures term contractor and Keir Rail structural repair contractor. Monitor progress using performance spreadsheets and a database.
Communicate at all levels to ensure clarity and understanding by all parties involved. Instigate a working team environment with those closely involved and recognise the commercial impact of any disruption to the tenant and alleviate this impact. CIOB member and training towards MCIOB membership.

Project Managing for Fluor on the “Connect” project. Designing and installing state of the art telecommunications equipment to London Underground Limited, assessing external specialist contractors’ final drawings in locating and assessing ideal sites to establish communications equipment. I have an understanding of communications equipment and routing cabling. Report writing, using photographs, sketches and detailed dimensions. These are then presented to the specialist communications contractor for approval and then form part of the tender process to enable cable routes. Also working within structures, enabling work for examination of structures to a programme and budget.
Metronet Rail Sub-Surface Lines in the building control department overseeing Quality Assurance and Quality Control of materials in accordance with the London Underground Engineering Standards and external approved codes of practice (Buildings Regulations), this also involved answering technical queries, implementing fire compartmentation issues, assessing fire escape routes as a safe means of egress, applying the DDA 2005 to projects for access into a building and within the transportation guidance documents, this also involved approaching agencies with specialist knowledge such as the RNIBA. I’m also involved in design meetings in accordance with the R.I.B.A. plan of works and monitoring the process of construction. I also ensure that work done by contractors meets with British Standards, European Numbers including assessing materials for use in section 12 stations.

I worked within the maintenance and capital works contract (Babcock Facilities Management) as a project surveyor, whereby one is in day-to-day communication between Surrey CC, Police, Community service buildings and Schools developing 5 year asset management plans which involved new build and maintenance to existing assets. This involved a condition survey followed up by suitability and sufficiency within a learning environment to complement the DFES guidelines. Access (DDA 2005) audits were undertaken to public and work place buildings and adaptations were made with due consultation with the user and client. School Access audits were only undertaken where a disabled pupil was likely to attend. My job brief included liasing with English Heritage regarding listed buildings and scheduled Ancient Monuments.
