Modeller, Lighting Rigger and Texture Painter

USA

Digital Domain is perceived as one of the largest, most experienced and well respected Visual Effects establishments in the Visual Effects industry today.
Worked as a Modeller, Lighting Rigger and Texture Painter on the feature film "Star Trek Nemesis", and, working closely with Trek conceptual designer John Eaves, was responsible for the co-design and digital modelling and texturing of The Scimitar, one of the hero ships featured in the movie. Modelled The Verrezano Bridge, The International Space Station and various props, buildings and sundry vehicles for the feature film, "The Day After Tomorrow".
I was asked to lead a Previs Animation Team for four months on the feature film "STEALTH", conceptualizing in part or in whole 7 major aerial action sequences. I modelled various props, sets, vehicles and assorted buildings for this movie using Lightwave and Maya Software. I also texture painted models featured in the movie using Photoshop software.
Awarded a Most Valuable Artist award by “STEALTH” director, Rob Cohen at the “STEALTH” wrap party, May 2005, after working for almost two years on this feature film.
Completed my tenure at Digital Domain as a Modeller, Shot Lighter and Animator on the Clint Eastwood directed "Flags of our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima".

FMV Director/Conceptual Artist

Mobius Light Entertainment, North Yorkshire

Managed Mobius Light Entertainment, the FMV Animation division of Mobius Entertainment, Pudsey, Leeds, North Yorkshire, UK. My duties included supervision of Titanium Angels FMV cut sequences, and in-game conceptual and character design. I also supervised production of marketing and advertising material for Mobius and SCI publishing, including CGI work for Titanium Angels, Mille Miglia and TDR 2000. Additionally, I supervised CGI Box Artwork for Quake 3 on Playstation 2 for Electronic Arts (United Kingdom).

Recruited as Conceptual Artist and Digital Modeler for Twighlight Software Ltd, a Harrogate based Computer Games Software developer.
I became familiar with 3D Studio, Photoshop and DPaint during this period and worked on two major projects to completion.

Freelance Model maker/Illustrator

Set up as Freelance Model maker/Illustrator and attended Harrogate College, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. It was at this point I became seriously interested in computer animation and CG image production.
It was also during this period I initiated a proposal for Dark Designs, a book on Science Fiction and Fantasy modeling techniques. The book was under consideration for international publishing at Titan Books, UK, for over a year. I also had several articles published in Science Fiction and Fantasy Modelling International Magazine regarding practical model making, painting and miniature photography.

Michael Dobson Associates, North Yorkshire

Recruited as Visualiser/Finished Artist and Photographer by Michael Dobson Associates, 2 Haywra St. Harrogate, North Yorkshire. I quickly adapted to Advertising and Conceptual Work, and enjoyed the challenge of preparing High Quality Artwork to strict deadlines. Promoted to Creative Director in 1990.
The Agency acquired several important clients during this period and work undertaken for them included: Worldwide Advertising Campaigns, Training Leaflets Folders and Videos, Product Brochures and Videos, Overseas Media Material, and Exhibition Graphics.

Joined local Music Shop, PEPs Music Limited,6 Bairns House, Harrogate, as Sales Assistant and In-House Repair Guitar Man. Promoted to Shop Manager mid 1989. I gained Management Skills and valuable experience in dealing with customer inquiries, complaints and administration.
