Role Description
The Systems Manager role has technical responsibility for the running and proactive development of the infrastructure, covering the majority of functions from daily duties, long term strategy and staff management. A consolidation plan was implemented to provide Boodle Hatfield with a common server platform providing a stable environment to accommodate large scale change expected in 2007. The current domain was migrated to AD 2003 with Exchange 2003, from NT4/Exchange 5.5 delivered within scope. The need for a BCP was identified in Q2 2005 culminating with a successful implementation with the “go live” completed in January 06; the infrastructure recovery uses offsite image based recovery using Symantec Livestate. Implementation of a new Exchange infrastructure providing increases resilience with additional mobile and remote capabilities. Support duties include 3rd/4th line support for a Wintel environment and numerous legal specific applications including Laserforms, TotalSpeech, Axxia Arista PMS with FED32 and Worldox DM system. Implementation of NG R55 active / passive firewall perimeter based on Nokia hardware, with migration to NGX. Capacity planning and forecasting for the firm’s onsite data centre; VMWare projects included virtualization of a Citrix PS4 farm, upgrading the unsupported XPa farm.
