CV

I have long and varied experience, mainly in the SME sector. I have acted as FD of a multi-million distribution company, been accountant for a property development group and for a large subcontractor in the house-building sector. I have set up accounting systems and loaded historic data onto them. I have designed general ledgers galore, and set up management accounting systems and reports feeding from them. I have sold accounting software, installed it and trained the users, and have managed staff, and (sometimes) fired them.

I have worked extensively on sales ledgers (including credit control), purchase ledgers, cash books, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, VAT returns, government returns, PAYE returns.

I have prepared accounts from incomplete records, conducted and supervised audits, and consolidated company accounts, and have run an accounting and payroll bureau. I have prepared business plans and cash flow forecasts, and have accompanied owner/managers to see their bank managers.

Get in touch to discuss your requirement. If I can help, I will. If I think I can't, I'll tell you before you fork out any money!

(Oct 2003 to Jun 2005)

Financial Director

As FD I was responsible for financial and management accounting for a growing IT company, with an annual turnover in excess of £14 million, employing 40 people.
I made numerous improvements to the company's accounting system, which was based on Iris (Exchequer) Enterprise financial software. These included detailed daily and monthly management reporting, monthly departmental budgets, and sales and cost analysis.

By maintaining rigorous credit control I brought the bad debt losses to virtually nil, reduced the debtor days, and thus maintained healthy, positive cash flow through a period of rapid growth and substantial capital expenditure.

In addition I offered services related to payroll, tax and VAT compliance.

From 1997 until 2000 I was an authorised reseller for Exchequer Software Ltd (now Iris), and through selling, installing and supporting their Enterprise accounting suite I have gained an in-depth knowledge of and formal accreditation in their products.
