I have spent over ten years working as a researcher, analyst, reporter and project manager/assistant for a range of organisations and have contributed to the Drewry Monthly (shipping, oil, products, commodities), Drewry economic and political country surveys (South America, China and ASEAN) and quarterly publications on oil and gas. I have worked for trade unions and written numerous articles, surveys, speeches and briefings on a range of issues including employment law, health and safety at work, drugs and alcohol, menopause, PFI, Agenda for Change, economics and defence. I have also had articles published in the Defence Management Journal and The PFI Journal. I have a BA Hons in International Relations with Development Studies and an MA in International Conflict Analysis so I have an excellent knowledge of defence, conflict and development issues. My background includes working in the Department of Transport so I am familiar with parliament and public transport issues. I am currently working as a freelance researcher and have produced samples of work on my website. My portfolio of clients currently includes the Hong Kong Polytechnic University but I am looking for more freelance work. I have excellent IT skills including data bases, web design and internet research.

The role involved influencing Government policy, supporting senior officials and assisting the Amicus campaign team.

Key tasks included responding to consultation documents on proposed legislative changes, speech writing, providing guidance for pay negotiations, lobbying activities, attending events with key change makers, developing course content, delivering workshop training and writing reports and articles for external and internal publications. Key Career Achievements/Publications

• Key role in the Amicus campaign to reverse the MoD’s decision to roll forward Tornado GR4 support from DARA St Athan to RAF Marham. This included writing the Amicus submission to the Defence Select Committee enquiry on “Delivering Frontline Capability to the RAF”

• Contributed to the Review of Charging Options for London (ROCOL) report, published by the Government Office for London in 2000. Also wrote ministerial submissions and parliamentary questions on the same issue

• Wrote a 45,000 word survey for Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd on the Chinese shipping industry which retailed at £450 a copy
