Also offering clients private one to one resources and counselling services on Depression management and Addiction related issues.

Duties of Post
Looking after mentally ill clients with a forensic history in a secure environment
Liasing with The Scottish Executive on treatment plans and changes in these plans with regards to Schedule one clients.
Ensuring all security protocols for visitors and staff were adhered to on a daily basis and investigating and reporting on any breaches.
Running ward on a daily basis in the absence of the ward manager, and the unit in the absence of the unit manager.
Assessing referred clients for suitability for the unit.
Administering medication and prescribed treatments within the NMC guidelines.
Preparing reports for court and the Scottish executive as and when required.
Escorting of clients to and fromcourt and or public areas e.g. Hospital.
Helping rehabilitate the relevant clients by escorting them to community settings if needed.
Ensuring the training needs of junior staff were identified, and facilitating same staff through a training programme designed to meet their educational and professional needs.

Assessing and helping with home alcohol detox according to SIGN Guidelines
Assessing and treating clients with mental health, physical and drug & Alcohol co-morbidity

enforced and updated when the need arose.
Delivering psychological and physical care to the client when needed.
Administering rapid tranquillization and regular medication as per NMC
guidelines, by injection or orally.
Documentation of all practice as per NMC guidelines.
Ensuring the correct use of the Mental Health Act (Scotland) 1984

Surgical ,orthopedic &medical placements on acute &non-acute ward
Study of basic general nursing skills, intravenous therapy site care,administering of I.M injections, administration of subcutaneous Injections aseptic dressing techniques for wounds, patient assessment & basic life support, basic wound assessment and care.
Community ,acute and forensic psychiatric placements within acute, forensic and community settings
Study of basic and advanced psychiatric nursing, administration of medications, rapid tranquillization procedures, patient assessment and care planning, study and use of differential diagnoses.
