Currently writing speculative and commissioned features and news.
Most recently editor (2001-2005) for a compound semiconductors magazine and instrumental in having a fully digital journal, expected to cut heavy mailing costs and responsible for writing newsletter and posting web news and features. Previously wrote and edited two subscriptions based fortnightly bulletins on Smart Materials and Photovoltaics.
In the UK from 1996-99 helped boost semiconductor publication into a ‘flag ship’ and profitable publication, increasing its circulation and advertising revenues. In Scotland in 1999 worked for a year setting up the environmental journal SEPA View, on time, within budget and had a steadily growing circulation.
Start-up editor in South Africa in 1978, after three years of weekly journalism when I reached features editor status and a subsequent seven years as an business/industrial reporter specialising in IT with the Financial Mail, as well as freelance feature and supplement writer with its associate publication Management. From 1978 and 1981, started three weekly IT and electronics cc papers where I was the sole news/feature writer and photographer then partnered the set up of, a full colour, glossy 32+ page industrial management monthly reaching profitability in 18 months.
Apart from editor, journalist and feature writer work has included PR, market research, information officer, part-time lecturer; writer's exhibition organiser; conference & exhibitions officer; research & writing reports
External BA from London University, trained as Information Scientist & later studied Technical Communication Techniques at Goldsmiths.
