Senior Technologist
Marconi (formerly GPT), Liverpool1999 to December 2005 - IP Development
Projects include :-
Development of H248 Mapper to allow communication between MGCP call controller and H248 gateway. This project was written in C++ (parser in lex & yacc) initially to run on Linux as a prototype. Took prototype to first New Hampshire Inter-op (2000).
H248 Gateway (for ATM zone). Technical Team Leader (6 - 12 persons in team). This project was developed using rational Rose on Windows (VC++). Target platform was proprietary board using Motorola chip. Responsible for development of software architecture, interworking with other elements including Call controller and manager (SNMP), and for software testing.
SIP (prototype team) - Main project in this group was the development of a SIP server (Proxy, Call routing, CPL handling and Registrar). Developed in C++ on Linux (RedHat) and also targeted at Linux as prototype. This prototype was tested on Customer site and at a number of field trials. It was also used for internal demonstrations. In 2004/5 ported prototype to Lyxos as a formal product (part of Marconi soft Switch). The Product was used in field trials in China towards end of 2005.
Windows application for the generation of CPL (VC++, MFC)
Web based front-end for CPL generation, (Html, Perl)
Web-based “lab” management system for the SIP server (Html, Perl)
Prototype Web-based third party - call handler for the SIP server. (HTML, Perl)
State machine verification front end – in conjunction with Liverpool University (C#,Perl)
1987 – 1999.
Worked on software development in a number of System X subsystems mainly related to Call Processing. Generally in technical capacity and as team leader. Also worked for 1 year approximately in System Design/Integrity. Main development language for System X was BTCORAL with some Assembler, and some C (for Compiler and on distributed components). In 1999 was involved in a number of Y2K projects.
