A previous post included income generation and tendering for external contracts. I creatod a trainer development programme which consisted of a pool of qualified assessors and coaches who maintained the training delivery quality standards throughout the whole range of training products. Imanaged and implemented the training evaluation strategy for the organisation, with the focus being on transfer of learning to the workplace, and improvement of operational performance. I have designed and delivered specialist training, including extensive scenarios, for supervisors and managers involved in major operations.

Having championed the Government's Best Value initiative for training and development, I continued to fulfill the planning portfolio. I ensured that all aspects of our training met national quality standards were relevant to the learning needs of the individual and the organisation, and that the training solution was the most appropriate. I was the functional manager for the departmental quality assurance, TNA, design, evaluation, and trainer development. I also managed the training administration section, and was the portfolio holder for departmental performance. As an experienced assessor, I participated in frequent recruiting and promotion assessment centres. And was the lead within the department on health and safety issues.

My career spanned operational roles as a constable, sergeant and inspector. I specialised as a traffic officer, and later as a trainer. The rank of inspector brought the first experiences of management, and responsibility for my own team, and later my own section, being responsible for all aspects of policing within the town and surrounding community. As a training manager I was responsible for driving, dog and public order training for the whole organisation.
