Key contracts have included design and management of bespoke training courses, promotion assessment centres, quality approval preparation, business reviews, and delivery of Assessor Training for Police officers.

Currently self employed as a training and development consultant, drawing on my experience within the people development and training field, providing a service which covers the whole learning cycle. Specific tasks have included training design and delivery of bespoke training, drafting of Quality Approval submission documentation.

This role was wide ranging and dynamic, effectively providing overall supervision of the training team, and recruiting new members. A fundamental element was the quality of delivery and monitoring of performance. I ensured that the style and content of delivery met the requirements of the client, and dealt with issues raised by delegates and the client.

Key functions were to maintain and expand the customer base and to ensure the Department performed to high quality standards. Having championed the Government's Best Value initiative for training and development, I continued to fulfill the planning portfolio. I ensured that all aspects of our training met national quality standards were relevant to the learning needs of the individual and the organisation, and that the training solution was the most appropriate. I was the functional manager for the departmental quality assurance, TNA, design, evaluation, and trainer development. I also managed the training administration section, and was the portfolio holder for departmental performance. As an experienced assessor, I participated in frequent recruiting and promotion assessment centres. And was the lead within the department on health and safety issues.

My career spanned operational roles as a constable, sergeant and inspector. I specialised as a traffic officer, and later as a trainer. The rank of inspector brought the first experiences of management, and responsibility for my own team, and later my own section, being responsible for all aspects of policing within the town and surrounding community. As a training manager I was responsible for driving, dog and public order training for the whole organisation.
