| On the completion of my first degree in Political Science, I took on the operational role of Computer Executive for an Information Technology company, Popcom Limited. Within a short period of time I advanced to become Business Manager. Within the organisation I took on a consultancy role, reviewing the organisation’s operations, implementing a new staffing structure & developing a keen interest in the people aspects of business. I moved on to work with organisations such as The Novas Group, a multi-national housing organisation where she took responsibility for the review of the organisation structure, salary scales & the implementation of an HR System to support the organisation’s HR Strategy. I have also gained considerable experience delivering on projects for organisations such as WorleyParsons, De La Rue, Ove Arup, National Power, the Department of Health, MHRA, Local Authorities, Government Agencies, News International & a number of SME Businesses, NGOs & Charities. Significantly I worked with Arup to develop an HR Information Strategy to link the HR Strategy to the overall Business Strategy & enhance the reputation of HR within the business. I have been involved with the Public Sector change agenda, specifically with the Department of Health where I was involved in the development of a new competency framework & performance management system & its implementation through the use of new technology. While I developed the Talent & Performance Management Strategy for London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority for close to 6000 uniformed officers. My consultancy expertise/key interests focus around: HR Strategy & Change – Developing the strategic role of HR in alignment with overall business strategy Talent Management – Developing a holistic approach to the development & deployment of talent Performance Management – Developing processes/systems that enable optimal performance of staff Succession Planning – Ensuring that organisations are prepared for their future staffing requirement HR Process Improvement – Ensuring HR processes effectively support both HR strategy & policies Systems Development – Developing HR systems to optimally support HR strategy & processes Early on in my career within Human Resources, I recognised the potential for technology to propel HR forward as a strategic business partner. As a result I have done a lot of work to optimise the use of technology across all areas of HR. This has meant that I have been involved in the planning, implementation & optimisation of HRIS systems such as Oracle, Vizual, Compel & PS2000. Such interventions have enabled HR teams to use technology to work more effectively; reducing time spent on administration & working more strategic. It has also enabled HR staff to quickly obtain HR related information required internally to make factually based decisions & to provide relevant information to both Operational Managers & Board members. While focusing on strategic HR, I have stayed up to date with operational issues & employment legislation such as the recent Age Legislation & provides organisations with practical advice on the necessary policy & process changes to both confirm with legislation & run an effective business. During this time I haveachieved Diplomas in Personnel Management & the Art of Systems Thinking; a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources with a specialism in organisational consultancy & a Masters in Human Resources Strategy & Change. I am a member of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) & The International Association for Human Resource Information (IHRIM). I am also a Common Purpose graduate. My experience in Human Resources has been enriched by the vast amount of experience I have gained working in Operational Management, Career Outplacement, Education Appeals Systems, Systems Implementation & Development, Business Analysis & Investor Relations. Significantly I worked in an Investor Relations capacity on the successful demerger of National Power to form International Power & Innology Plc (Npower). Currently based in Milton Keynes, I am an active member of IHRIM & both her local Chamber of Commerce & CIPD branches. |
