The history of people4business
The creation of people4business
We came up with the idea of people4business through a combination of four factors:
1 Personal experience
The company directors have worked within the contracting and consulting market — both as Buyers and as Sellers of services.
We knew there was a much more efficient way of managing contracts than anything currently in the marketplace.
2 All-industry job sites
The permanent employment job market has made a very successful transition to the internet and already has ‘all industry’ models that work very successfully.
We wanted to create an all-industry model for the contract job market.
3 Internet searching
Ever-increasing numbers of us are online and using the internet for searching for what we want.
We believed that familiarity with internet search engines would mean an easy transition to searching for skills and industries.
4 Online marketplaces
There are a number of successful and responsive online marketplaces for buyers and sellers of goods.
We knew there was a gap in the market for buyers and sellers of services.
Making it happen
Once we’d come up with the idea, we took it out to investors to secure the funding we needed to launch the website. We now have a group of skilled and committed investors from a range of industry and professional backgrounds.
The website launched in July 2006. Since then, we’ve attracted contractors, consultants and freelancers from all over the UK to register as Sellers on the site. Growing numbers of business Buyers are accessing highly skilled professionals for their assignments at industry-beating rates.

Sector champions
Along with our management team, we also have a number of industry specialists who are championing people4business in different industry sectors.
We have already launched «www.people4charity.com», to meet the needs of the charitable and not-for-profit sector, and «www.people4web2.com», targeting buyers and sellers of skills in web 2.0.
Continual improvement
We continually improve people4business.com to make it easier for Buyers and Sellers to use.
We’ve improved our search process, introduced the free job board and are adding new functionality all the time.
